Why we called Today as Present? - (Story)
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.
One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.
His bed was next to the room's only window.
The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
The men talked for hours on end.
They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their
involvement in the military service, where they had been on
vacation..
Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he
would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he
could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to
live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and
enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.Ducks and swans played
on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers
walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color
and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the
man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this
picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.
Although the other man could not hear the band -he could see it in his
mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with
descriptive words.
Days, weeks and months passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body
of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.
She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be
moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and
after making sure he was comfortable, she left
him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first
look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out
the window besides the bed.
It faced a blank wall.
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this
window.
The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'
Epilogue:
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own
situations.Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared,
is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have
that money can't buy.
'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present .'

Never judge anyone
A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an
urgent surgery. He answered the call as soon as possible, changed his
clothes & went directly to the surgery block. He found the boy's father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor. On seeing him, the dad yelled:
"Why did you take all this time to come? Don't you know that my son's life is in danger? Don't U have any sense of responsibility?"
The doctor smiled & said:
"I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital & I came as fast as I could
after receiving the call...... And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I
can do my work"
"Calm down?! What if your son was in this room
right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will you
do??" said the father angrily
The doctor smiled again &
replied: "I will say what Job said in the Holy Book "From dust we came
& to dust we return, blessed be the name of God". Doctors cannot
prolong lives. Go & intercede for your son, we will do our best by
God's grace"
"Giving advises when we're not concerned is so easy" Murmured the father.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy,
"Thank goodness!, your son is saved!" And without waiting for the
father's reply he carried on his way running. "If U have any question,
ask the nurse!!"
"Why is he so arrogant? He couldn't wait some
minutes so that I ask about my son's state" Commented the father when
seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.
The nurse
answered, tears coming down her face: "His son died yesterday in a road
accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son's
surgery. And now that he saved your son's life, he left running to
finish his son's burial."
Moral
Never judge anyone….. because U never know how their life is & what they’re going through..

The GIVING TREE
A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow.. he loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by.. the little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree every day.
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad. ‘Come and play with me’ the tree asked the boy. ‘I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more’ the boy replied. ‘I want toys. I need money to buy them.’ ‘Sorry, but I do not have money.. but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.’ The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned and the tree was excited ‘Come and play with me’ the tree said. ‘I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?” Sorry, but I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house.’ So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.
One hot summer day, the man returned and the tree was delighted. ‘Come and play with me!’ the tree said. ‘I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?’ said the man. ‘Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.’ So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.
Finally, the man returned after many years. ‘Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you’ the tree said. ‘No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite’ the man replied. ‘No more trunk for you to climb on’ the tree said. ‘I am too old for that now’ the man said. ‘I really cannot give you anything.. the only thing left is my dying roots’ the tree said with tears. ‘I do not need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years’ the man replied. ‘Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest, Come, come sit down with me and rest.’ The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears..
Moral-The tree is like our parents. When we were young, we loved to play with our Mum and Dad.. When we grow up, we leave them.. only come to them when we need something or when we are in trouble. No matter what, parents will always be there and give everything they could just to make you happy. You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that is how all of us treat our parents. Appreciate all they do for u before it’s too late. Love your parents, no matter where they are.

Modern Panchtantra Story - IT HUMOR
Once upon a
time, there was a software engineer who used to develop programs on his Pentium
machine, sitting under a tree on the banks of a river. He used to earn his
bread by selling those programs in the Sunday market.
One day, while he was working, his machine tumbled off the table and fell in the river. Encouraged by the Panchatantra story of his childhood (the woodcutter and the axe ),
He started praying to the River Goddess. The River Goddess wanted to test him and so appeared only after one month of rigorous prayers. The engineer told her that he had lost his computer in the river.

As usual, the Goddess wanted to test his honesty. She showed him a match box and asked, " Is this your computer ?" Disappointed by the Goddess' lack of computer awareness, the engineer replied, " No."
She next showed him a pocket-sized calculator and asked if that was his.
Annoyed, the engineer said "No, not at all!!"
Finally, she came up with his own Pentium machine and asked if it was his.
The engineer, left with no option, sighed and said " Yes."
The River Goddess was happy with his honesty. She was about to give
Him all three items, but before she could make the offer, the engineer
Asked her, "Don't you know that you're supposed to show me some better computers before bringing up my own ?"
The River Goddess, angered at this, replied, "I know that, you stupid donkey! The first two things I showed you were the Trillennium and the Billennium, the latest computers from IBM !". So saying, she disappeared with the Pentium!!
********
Moral :If you're not up-to-date with technology trends , it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Secret of a Happily married life
Once it
was asked by one of my Friend, "What is the secret behind your happy married
life?"
I said, "You should share responsibilities with due love and Respect each other. Then absolutely there will be no problems."
He asked, "Can you explain?"
I said, "In my house, I take decisions on bigger issues where as my wife decides on smaller issues. We do not interfere in each other's decisions."
Still not convinced, Friend asked me "Give me some examples"

I said, "Smaller issues like, which car we should buy, how much amount to save, when to visit home town, which Sofa, air conditioner, refrigerator, monthly expenses, whether to keep a maid or not etc are decided by my wife. I just agree to it"
He asked, "Then what is your role?"
I said, "My decisions are only for very big issues. Like whether America should attack Iran, whether Britain should lift sanction over Zimbabwe, whether to widen African economy, whether Sachin Tendulkar should retire, etc etc and My wife NEVER, EVER objects to any of these decisions"

Some interesting incidents from the life of Albert Einstein
One day during a speaking tour, Albert Einstein's
driver, who often sat at the back of the hall during his lectures, remarked
that he could probably give the lecture himself, having heard it so many times.
Sure enough, at the next stop on the tour, Einstein and the driver switched places,
with Einstein sitting at the back in his driver's uniform.
Having delivered a flawless lecture, the driver was
asked a difficult question by a member of the audience. "Well, the answer
to that question is quite simple," he casually replied.
"I bet my
driver, sitting up at the back there, could answer it!"
*********
Albert Einstein's wife often suggested that he dress
more professionally when he headed off to work. "Why should I?" he
would invariably argue. "Everyone knows me there." When the time came
for Einstein to attend his first major conference, she begged him to dress up a
bit. "Why should I?" said Einstein. "No one knows me
there!"
**********
Albert Einstein was often asked to explain the general
theory of relativity. "Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it
seems like an hour," he once declared. "Sit with a pretty girl for an
hour, and it seems like a minute. That's relativity!"
**********
When Albert Einstein was working in Princeton
university, one day he was going back home he forgot his home address. The
driver of the cab did not recognize him. Einstein asked the driver if he knows
Einstein's home. The driver said "Who does not know Einstein's address?
Everyone in Princeton knows.Do you want to
meet him?. Einstein replied "I am Einstein. I forgot my home address, can
you take me there? "The driver reached him to his home and did not even
collect his fare from him.
**********
Einstein was once traveling from Princeton
on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of
every passenger. When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket.
He couldn't find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets. It wasn't
there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn't find it. Then he looked in
the seat beside him. He still couldn't find it.
The conductor said, 'Dr. Einstein, I know
who you are. We all know who you are. I'm sure you bought a ticket. Don't worry
about it.'
Einstein nodded appreciatively. The conductor
continued down the aisle punching tickets. As he was ready to move to the next
car, he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands and knees
looking under his seat for his ticket.
The conductor rushed back and said, 'Dr.
Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don't worry, I know who you are. No problem. You don't
need a ticket. I'm sure you bought one.'
Einstein looked at him and said, 'Young man, I too,
know who I am. What I don't know is where I'm going.'

The Mayonnaise Jar
When
things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --The small stuff.
'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

The Computer and Me
This is a small story about me and my experience with
Computer.
When I was 10, somebody told about computer. That was a simple definition I heard ever.
"Computer is a magic TV. You will get whatever you want!!” he told like this.
My dream about computer, made me mad on that time. But the dream comes true at my age15.
At that time, I joined the course DCA-Diploma in Computer Application" in a small computer center.
I felt very much happy when I touch the computer at first and my learning starts from type A,B,C,D in MS word and draw line in MS-Paint.
Unfortunately I have chosen my High school studies in Biology stream. So my computer dreams paused
for years.
I am back. Yes, I decided to do my graduate degree in computer science and done it perfectly.
Lot of friends I had in college, who have same inspiration in Computer as me. We shared our knowledge
among us and we spread to others via Seminars, Workshops, mails and Web feeds.
During college days, I did my programming courses and also infrastructure courses in a famous institution.
My awareness about computer technology got improved after these courses.
Except these study oriented streams, I am so much impressed by Multimedia works. So, I did some courses related to 2D animation, Greetings designing, Audio mixing and video editing.
Most of my skills about computer and other related fields comes through self studies and own interests.
Finally, I thank all my friends who helps me during my college days and who taught lots of skills for me.

Life
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.
A tourist complimented the local fishermen
on the quality of their fish and asked
how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long." they answered in unison.
"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"
The fishermen explained that their small catches were
sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.
"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children,
and take siestas with our wives.
In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few
drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.
“We have a full life."
The tourist interrupted,
"I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!
You should start by fishing longer every day.
You can then sell the extra fish you catch.
With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
"And after that?"
"With the extra money the larger boat will bring,
you can buy a second one and a third one
and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man,
you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants
and maybe even open your own plant.
You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City , Los
Angeles , or even New York City !
From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."
"How long would that take?"
"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist.
"And after that?"
"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting, "
answered the tourist, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can
start buying and selling stocks and make millions!"
"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen.
"After that you'll be able to retire,
live in a tiny village near the coast,
sleep late, play with your children,
catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife
and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."
"With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now. So
what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans.

you may already be there!!

Wonderful one minute
One smart Software engineer and his Project Manager were traveling towards Pune in a train.
Just Opposite to their seat, a beautiful girl was sitting along with her grand ma.
With in some time, Eye-Eye interactions started between Our Software engineer & that girl.
After some minutes, train started moving in to a tunnel and it was very dark.
Suddenly, everybody heard a Kiss sound followed by a loud slapping sound.
Everybody remained silent, when the train came out of the tunnel.
Grand ma thought that,” The Guy is a rogue; how dare he is? He has kissed my granddaughter! But my Granddaughter is genuine; she immediately slapped that guy.”
That girl thought that,” I feel happy, when that guy kissed me, but I feel sorry that my grand ma has slapped him”.
PM thought that,” I can’t believe that this guy has kissed that girl! But it is unfair that she slapped me by mistake”
Finally, the Software engineer thought?
“This one minute in my life is wonderful, it hardly comes…because, at a time I have kissed a girl and also I have slapped my PM.”
Enjoy every moment !!!!!
